Is it Dangerous: Are THC-O, Delta-8, and HHC safe to use?

Semi-synthetic cannabinoids, like Delta-8, THC-O, and HHC, aren't harmful, but it all comes down to how they are produced. At QWIN, we use food-safe mixtures to process these compounds, ensuring each cannabis compound is safe to ingest. We always recommend purchasing from a credible source that third-party tests their products for contaminants or other impurities.

Traditional Methods vs New Method

Traditional extraction methods required dangerous chemicals such as pyridine and Acetic Anhydride. In recent months, new methods have been developed that use food-safe mixtures, removing the dangerous chemicals and making them safe for both producers and consumers.

Problems with Traditional Methods:

  • Dangerous chemicals
  • Pyridine (known to cause nervous system damage)
  • Acetic Anhydride (highly corrosive)

Benefits of New Methods:

  • Only uses food-safe mixtures
  • Removes the need for dangerous chemicals

Our extraction methods help preserve more of the naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes. Much of the Delta-8, THC-O-acetate, and HHC products on the market contain additives and solvents, like vitamin E acetate, and are extracted from sub-optimal flower. After the serious harm that illegal vapes made with vitamin E actetate had on an individual's health,  we want to ensure that everyone feels safe using our products. We encourage you to always check the lab results and only purchase hemp products from reputable companies.

Is it habit forming?

Just like Delta-9, semi-synthetic cannabinoids are safe and non-habit-forming. We always recommend purchasing your cannabis products from a reputable brand that third-party tests their products to ensure you aren’t ingesting any harmful substances.

Like any recreational substance, we suggest starting with small doses to ensure you have the best experience. We like to think of it as keeping the "training wheels" on when introducing a new product to avoid a bad trip. Try a low dose in a safe space, and then once you're comfortable, you can increase the amount for an out-of-this-world experience.

Can I test positive for THC if I use semi-synthetic cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids, like Delta-8, THC-O, and HHC, can stay in your urine for 4 to 8 days. Heavy cannabinoid users could trigger a false positive on a drug test for up 30 to 60 days. This varies depending on your body type, length of usage, tolerance, and diet.

Unfortunately, most drug tests that are screening for cannabis can't differentiate between Delta-8, THC-O, or HHC and Delta-9-THC, so you may test positive for cannabis. We recommend not using these cannabinoids if you are regularly tested for cannabis as they may trigger a false positive.
